The chapel was built in 1864 by Moritz Bammatter, father of chaplain Benjamin Bammatter, as evidenced by the year "1864" carved and painted on the gable. As the visitation records expressly state, the chapel was built without the bishop's permission. It was owned by the Moritz Bammatter heirs and was donated to the chaplaincy by them in the early 1970s.
Last restoration in 1975/1976 by architect Paul Sprung.
