Blatten-Belalp to host the sixth stage of the 2024 Tour de Suisse

After half a century, the Tour de Suisse returns to Blatten-Belalp. The last mountaintop finish in Blatten took place in 1974. The peloton then included cycling legends such as Louis Pfenninger and the legendary Eddy Merckx, who also won the overall classification.

On Friday, June 14, 2024, the sixth stage of the Tour de Suisse 2024 will finish in Blatten-Belalp. The arrival of the world's best cyclists promises to be an exciting event in the midst of our unique mountain scenery. The riders will start early in the morning in Locarno and cover a total of 151.2 kilometers and 3,575 meters of altitude on their way to Blatten.

In addition to the finish in Blatten and the start in Locarno, the highlights of the stage are the 2,478 meter high Nufenen Pass and the passage through the Goms. From the top of the pass to Blatten, the riders will have to cover more than 55 kilometers. David Loosli, Sporting Director of the Tour de Suisse, says: "It's quite possible that a breakaway group will have a chance to win the stage from the Nufenenpass to Blatten. However, on the seven-kilometer final climb to Blatten-Belalp, the best climbers and GC contenders are sure to attack again".

Road closures are expected on the route to Blatten on race day. Exact closure times will be announced once the final race program is known.
