The weekend of the Alpabfahrt

When the alpine summer draws to a close, on the so-called Alpabfahrtswochenende, the farmers from the Blatten-Belalp region lead their Eringer cows back down into the valley. Every year, many enthusiastic spectators marvel at the traditionally decorated animals that make the long journey to Blatten. 

After the cows have been driven down from Belalp, the festivities begin with traditional country music and many market stalls at the fairground near the valley station in Blatten. Afterwards, the Belalp Alp Queen will be crowned.

The Alpabfahrt 2025 will take place on September 20, 2025.
