The Museum of the Swiss Guard

In the old military fortress above Naters, you can visit the Museum of the Swiss Guard and immerse in more than 500 years of history of the Swiss Guard, which protects the Pope in Rome up until this day.

Did you know? No other Swiss municipality has contributed more guardsmen over the centuries than the Valaisian village Naters.

You can book guided tours for group visits, or company meetings at +41 (0)27 921 60 30. The tours are conducted by former guardsmen.

The Fortress Museum

We bring light to the underground – come and join us!
The Fortress shelters the officer’s mess with murals, a morgue, kitchen with dining-hall, a detention cell, and much more.
